Hey, Thanks, Joey, for the comment. Glad that you liked the pictures. It took us many hours to get the right shots. Yes, it is hot, or should I say blazing hot, but I wanted to cover it now. In June when the rain hits us it will be muddy and damp all around. With so much of wilderness around not too safe during the monsoon. You know snakes and reptiles and all that.

I’m particularly fond of the fortified gate, chains, trees with fog, and the captain’s wheel. Everything there looks so beautiful and so hot!

Thanks Vishal for your comment. As you must have noticed I am a history person so I dig in as much as possible and then showcase it in my own style with pictures and trivia. Glad that you liked it.

Sharukh, thanks for this information how Vasai lost out despite being an important hub for trade. Difficult to fathom but true….I wouldn’t mind shifting base there. Amazing pictures that go with this superb post to remind us that it’s an inherent part of Mumbai.

Thanks Mary. Yes, we worked hard for those images. In fact the fort is so big this is just one third of it. I can make a ten part series of it still have more pictures to share. However, we don’t want to overdo it. Vasai fort is one of the best forts near Mumbai but sadly in bad state. Sarah says thank you for your kind words.

It’s a place I would certainly want to visit if I ever traveled to India. You’re doing a wonderful job in providing travel information for your part of the world. Dan is right…would love to read posts like this of the places I intend to travel to. PS: Your Sarah looks adorable in the hat! 🙂

Thank you, Dan, for your comment. Well, I understand these days you might be occupied with certain personal commitments. Glad that you liked the pictures. Since it is a history post, I wanted to make sure the images are good, so that those who don’t read history can at least see the beauty in details. The next few posts will all be history related but quite different in their own way.

Thanks Kate for your comment. Well, Vasai never got the attention until 1990s when Mumbai population started to grow beyond control and people started migrating to other corners of the city. The tourism department and whatever the concern departments are associated with keeping these places intact are busier paying attention to only those places that mint them more money. The rest all fall off the plate.

Me too, Cheryl. Luckily there are so many forts in the state I live.
