The Origins of The Lil Flea: How It All Began

The Lil Flea Mumbai started more as a collective lifestyle event highlighting a bunch of bohemian designers, artists and brands. The event is the brainchild of Alankar Jain and Priyanka Punjabi, both then trying to do something different in their lives.

Back in 2014, The Lil Flea began as a launchpad for new businesses reaching newer audiences without investing a lot of money. Today, The Lil Flea market has managed to have a strong base in Mumbai. It receives good support from the local audience.

However, here’s what makes this weekend festival a better place to visit.

What Makes The Lil Flea Special?

1. Shop from 400+ Indie Brands

Forget malls and big brands! Lil Flea brings together small, creative businesses offering handmade clothing, quirky accessories, home décor, and artisanal products. If you’re into sustainable and unique finds, this is your paradise.

So, if you are expecting to find some of those popular brands you find in shopping malls, you will be disappointed. In fact, the idea of not having those same brands is a good thing because you will discover many new local artisinal brands and labels that you can try out.

From handcrafted women’s wear, shoes, khadi outfits, trendy lingerie and innerwear, stylish bags and wallets, and accessories like necklaces and earrings you got it all here.

Men can shop some great accessories, shirts, and so on. Apart from clothing, there are many other items to buy so the options are practically endless.

2. Food & Drinks Galore

From gourmet burgers to local street food, Lil Flea has a dedicated food zone where you can explore 60+ food stalls. Expect handcrafted pizzas, artisanal ice creams, cold brews, and even vegan delights. Craft beer lovers will also find some of the best homegrown brands here!

The most interesting thing we liked about the food and drinks is that they have a separate section for them. So, you can skip all the other shopping stalls and head right where you should be and dig into the best foods you can try.

The kind of choices you get at Lil Flea Market Mumbai is simply overwhelming for sure. If that’s not all, in the shopping area you will find plenty of stalls that sell healthy snack bars and food items that you can taste and buy as you prefer.

3. Live Music & Entertainment

Lil Flea isn’t just about shopping – it’s a full-fledged festival experience. Indie artists, live bands, and DJs will keep the vibe alive throughout the weekend. There’s also an open-air movie screening for those who want to chill under the stars.

We got to meet Maalavika Manoj during our visit to the Lil Flea Mumbai and it was a pleasant experience. The brief interaction with upcoming artists was a great way to make our evening special and memorable.

Apart from the music, there is a section for book lovers where you can enjoy some great books. You can also watch some of your favourite movies here at the open theatre.

Final Thoughts on Visiting The Lil Flea, Mumbai

The Lil Flea Mumbai 2026 being the 12th Anniversary Edition promises to be bigger and better than ever before! Whether you’re a foodie, a shopaholic, or someone who loves a good vibe, this is the place to be this weekend.

You can spend hours here exploring the pop-up stalls and exploring unique items and curated products that are hard to find in a regular shopping mall.

However, considering that most products are curated and artisinal, they are targeted towards a certain niche audience.

This also means that the prices for these products are going to be above the standard rates.

Also, those who don’t like crowded places must try and visit this event during early evening hours to get the best experience.

Hence, ideally this is not something we would recommend to shoppers looking for bargains, discounts and budget deals.

If artisanal finds aren’t your thing, you can head to some of the best shopping malls in Mumbai, where fashion, food, and films come together for a full day of fun.

However, overall The Lil Flea Mumbai offers a unique shopping experience that most shopping malls and markets fail to provide. Hence, it certainly is a great place to at least check out once and try it for yourself.

Looking for the best Christmas markets in Mumbai for decorations, gifts, and festive shopping?

Mumbai’s Christmas shopping scene is both exciting and a little overwhelming. The city bursts into life each December, with vibrant markets and stalls popping up across neighborhoods — from South Mumbai’s old lanes to the western suburbs.

Walking through these markets is pure holiday magic, twinkling lights, shiny ornaments, Christmas trees lined up for sale, and the sweet scent of plum cakes and cinnamon in the air. Each market has its own charm: some are packed with traditional trinkets, others brim with creative modern décor.

But with so many options scattered across the city, it helps to know exactly where to go. In this guide, we’ve handpicked Mumbai’s top Christmas markets, plus insider tips to help you shop smarter, save time, and soak up the festive spirit without the chaos.

Where to Go Christmas Shopping in Mumbai in 2025

1. Crawford Market

If you’re in South Mumbai, Crawford Market is the first stop for Christmas shopping. It’s the city’s iconic shopping hub, where the festive buzz begins long before Christmas week. From shiny baubles and stars to full-sized Christmas trees, this is where Mumbai literally lights up for the season.

A range of Christmas trees on the streets in Crawford Market, one of the best markets for Christmas shopping in Mumbai.

Wander through its bustling lanes and you’ll find stalls packed with ornaments, LED lights, wreaths, and décor in every color and size. Whether you’re on a budget or going big, Crawford’s vendors have something for everyone. The market also doubles as a sensory feast — think bright lights, chatter, and the scent of roasted nuts wafting through the air.

Why Visit: It’s one of the best markets for Christmas decorations in Mumbai, offering a huge variety, negotiable prices, and a slice of Mumbai’s festive soul. It also allows you to enjoy the benefits of offline shopping as you can explore multiple products, enjoy local food and wholesome experience.

How to Reach Crawford Market?

  • Nearest Central Railway Station: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus
  • Nearest Western Railway Station: Marine Lines

🎁 What to Shop for

  • Christmas trees
  • Christmas baubles
  • Christmas ornaments
  • Christmas stars
  • Christmas decorational items
  • Christmas wreaths
  • Christmas LED lights

💬 Pro Tip: We’ve bought LED fairy lights here for years — they sparkle beautifully but often don’t last beyond one season. Try the XERGY LED lights instead; we’ve used them for four years and they’re way more durable and energy-efficient.

⏰ Best Time to Visit

Crawford gets crowded fast, especially on weekends. For a calmer experience, go on weekdays in the morning. And yes — bring your bargaining game. Prices drop quickly when you haggle with a smile.

🍴 Local Food Spots Nearby

Street shopping at Crawford is incomplete without a food break. If you’re looking to rehydrate or cool off you can visit these shops for ice creams, faloodas and kulfis in Mumbai.

  • Badshah Cold Drinks and Snacks – legendary falooda and fresh juices
  • Café Firdos – quick bites with old Bombay vibes
  • Gulshan-e-Iran – for hearty biryanis and kebabs before heading home with your loot

2. Hill Road, Bandra

If you live in the suburbs, Hill Road in Bandra is your best bet for Christmas shopping — it saves you the long trip south and still gives you the full festive buzz.

Bandra, with its vibrant East Indian community, truly lights up in December. The streets sparkle, carols fill the air, and the market overflows with Christmas décor stalls, tree shops, and cheerful chaos. If you’re wondering where to buy Christmas decorations in Mumbai, this is your answer.

You’ll find endless rows of shops offering everything from baubles and stars to nativity sets and LED lights. The best strategy? Window shop first, compare prices, then grab your favourites. Some of the most popular stores include 7 & Seven, Cheap Jack, Mota’s, and Something Special — all clustered near St. Stanislaus High School signal.

If you’re looking for ribbons, Hidden Treasure has a lovely collection at pocket-friendly prices. And for premium trees and ornaments, Roy’s Wonderland is worth visiting — a little pricier, but excellent quality.

Rows of stalls line the streets near Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Church, selling everything from Christmas trees and ornaments to fairy lights and stars. The vibe here feels homely and community-driven — less commercial than Crawford or Bandra, but equally festive.

For residents of the suburbs, this market is a real time-saver. You’ll find most of the same Christmas tree designs and décor items you’d spot in South Mumbai, but without the travel or heavy crowds.

How to Reach I.C. Colony Borivali?

  • Nearest Western Railway Station: Borivali / Dahisar

  • Christmas trees
  • Christmas baubles
  • Christmas decorational items
  • Christmas stars
  • Christmas crib set

⏰Best Time to Visit I.C. Colony Borivali

Daytime visits work best here. Most shops display their Christmas items outdoors, so the natural light helps you choose better colours and textures. Arrive before 5:00 p.m. to avoid the evening rush and catch everything clearly before sunset.

🎄 12 Insider Secrets for Christmas Shopping in Mumbai (2025)

Whether you’re buying your first Christmas tree or restocking your festive décor, these insider tips will help you save time, money, and energy — and make your holiday shopping experience in Mumbai stress-free.

1. Set Up a Christmas Shopping List

Stay organized, focused, and avoid overspending.

A checklist keeps your Christmas shopping on track. From trees to table décor, jot down everything you need before heading out. It’s easy to get distracted by shiny displays — so plan how you want your tree and home to look, and stick to the essentials.

2. Know Your Budget

Celebrate smart without draining your wallet.

Festive markets can tempt you with endless decorations, but remember: there’s always next year. Stick to a spending limit so you can enjoy the season stress-free. If you’ve gone overboard already, explore affordable ways to celebrate Christmas in Mumbai — sometimes less is more.

3. Plan for Traffic and Crowds

Avoid the chaos and shop smarter.

Mumbai’s streets buzz with energy during the festive season. Visit popular markets early in the morning or on weekdays to dodge the crowd. You’ll move faster, think clearer, and maybe even bargain better.

4. Choose the Nearest Market for Buying a Christmas Tree

Convenience beats chasing minor discounts.

Large Christmas trees can be a hassle to transport. So, choose a market close to home. Prices barely vary across Mumbai — it’s the distance that costs you time and energy. For example, if you live in Borivali, skip the long trip to Crawford Market and shop locally in I.C. Colony instead.

5. Be Patient While Buying Your Christmas Tree

Your centrepiece deserves careful thought.

This will be your biggest purchase — and the one you’ll reuse for years. Take time to compare designs, materials, and prices before you decide. The right tree sets the tone for your entire festive setup. Here are some tips on buying your perfect Christmas tree based on our experiences.

6. Measure Your Space

Size matters — and so does storage.

Trees always look smaller in shops. Measure your space before buying one, especially if you live in an apartment. And don’t forget — once the season ends, that same tree has to fit into storage.

A picture of Christmas stars and decoration pieces on a pop-up stall in Crawford Market, one of the best Christmas markets in Mumbai.

7. Decide What Type of Christmas Tree You Want

Know your style before you shop.

From lush pine trees to snowy, flocked, or pre-lit versions — Mumbai markets have them all. Decide what matches your home’s vibe before you step out, and you’ll save time hopping between shops.

8. Look for Reusable Versatile Items

Smart décor pays off year after year.

Opt for versatile decorations that can be reused and repurposed. Simple ribbons, stars, and baubles can look stunning with a little creativity — and save you money every Christmas.

9. Compare Prices Across Markets

The best finds come to those who explore.

Each Mumbai market has its charm — and its price tags. Visit a few before buying to compare deals on trees, lights, and ornaments. You might find the same décor at half the price just a few lanes away.

10. Invest in Quality Storage Boxes

Good storage keeps your sparkle safe.

Protect your ornaments and decorations with sturdy storage boxes. A little care now means you’ll have pristine decorations ready for next year — no tangled LED lights or broken baubles and ornaments.

11. Shop Early for the Best Deals

The early bird gets the prettiest tree.

The best decorations sell out fast. Start your shopping early in the season to get the best picks — and avoid the last-minute chaos that comes with dwindling stock.

12. Stick to Basic Colours When Unsure

Stick to colours that offer a timeless and classic look to your Christmas tree and decorations

If you are confused with what colours you should pick, you rather stick to basic colours when buying Christmas ornaments and decorations. Red, green, and white often accented with gold and silver blends well with different colours. For experimentation you can opt for modern and bold colours like burgundy, chocolate brown, deep greens and purples.

Conclusion: Making the Most of Mumbai’s Christmas Markets

While Mumbai’s main Christmas markets grab most of the attention, don’t miss the smaller neighbourhoods that quietly sparkle with festive charm. Spots like Orlem in Malad, Colaba, and other tucked-away localities often surprise shoppers with affordable Christmas décor, ornaments, and heartfelt handmade gifts.

You’ll also find pop-up stalls across the city offering great bargains on decorations and Christmas trees. Whether you’re exploring Crawford Market, Hill Road, or I.C. Colony, every corner of Mumbai brings its own touch of Christmas magic.

And once your shopping bags are full, reward yourself with something sweet — check out our guide to the Best Christmas Cake Shops in Mumbai, we’ve visited, tried and tasted already.

✨ With the right spirit and a dash of planning, you’ll find everything you need to make this Christmas in Mumbai truly memorable.

Sweets and gift hampers remain the most common Diwali gifts. They are versatile, appreciated by almost everyone, and easy to personalize for family, friends, neighbours, or employees.

Yes, scented or decorative candles are a wonderful Diwali gift. They brighten homes, create a festive atmosphere, and are suitable for friends, neighbours, and colleagues. Pair them with a gift box or hamper for extra charm.

The post Offline Shopping Advantages: 5 Benefits You Should Know appeared first on Travel India Destinations.

Before you counter me with the benefits of online shopping let me tell you that I already know all that. I shop online on various e-commerce stores. I have experienced what it feels like having your product home-delivered and unwrapping it in the comfort of your home. Online shopping has changed the retail market forever. Consumers today prefer to shop from their laptops and mobile devices and buy products online. I completely agree with the fact that online shopping is all about saving time, money and effort. However, shopaholics would agree that there is nothing like traditional shopping. Offline shopping benefits are quite different from the online ones and it is just a matter of perspective. So, during the festive season shopping, I still prefer to shop offline because I believe offline shopping advantages surpass online shopping.

Experience a Sense of Joy

Wasn’t the true purpose of shopping to bring you a feeling of joy and happiness? I remember as a kid when I used to go shopping with my mother it was an exciting experience. The word shopping would excite me and fill me with a sense of joy. It was not about what I want; but about what I will find as I hop from store to store.

Offline Shopping Advantages
Candle lamps at display for the festive season

The experience was a surprise party because I never knew what I would find in the stores. Till date, shopping for me is a joyful experience because I want retailers to surprise me with products that I haven’t come across. Plus, I am always excited about spending quality time with my loved ones as I hop through different stores. Online shopping robs me of that joy completely. We did some offline shopping in Udaipur market and the experience was surreal.

Live the Experience

How many times have you cherished the experience of buying products online? One of the offline shopping advantages is that you get an experience that you can cherish in the future. When you are shopping for your loved ones, friends and family you go through so many small experiences. You remember all those small talks, funny incidents and the experience of being together.

Cups and Mugs

Offline shopping also allows you to try your clothes and products before you buy it. So, you can make an informed decision as you feel and hold the product unlike just watching a zoomed image of it online. During the festive season, I want to enjoy the experience and make the most of the time I have. Sarah and I both go for offline Christmas shopping in Mumbai and we make the most of the time.

[mc4wp_form id=3462]

Instant Gratification

I’m not sure how many people enjoy the pleasure of carrying shopping bags as they hop store to store. A lot of shopaholics feel pleasure in carrying those multiple shopping bags that display logos of top brands. This is also one of the offline shopping advantages that you can get. It is a matter of pride for those who love shopping. More bags means more shopping and that means more pleasure.

Art Pieces at the Store
Art Pieces at the Store

Online shopping is all about making the payment and waiting for 24 hours or more to get your hands on the product you bought. One of the offline shopping benefits is that you buy the product and you have it then and there. I don’t want to wait and find myself trapped in the process of returning the product (if I am not satisfied) especially during the festive season. When I am shopping offline I can return home, try it and show it to my loved ones. Isn’t that fun?

Additionally, one of the offline shopping advantages is that you also get to enjoy some food and drinks. When you shop online all you do it look for the products, click it, and buy it, done. When you are hopping from store to store you eventually might halt at the nearest restaurant, café or bar for a break. You enjoy some great food and drinks before you continue your shopping streak.

Enjoy delicious food while shopping offline

This gives you to spend more time with your family and friends which is hard to find while shopping online. During the festive season, restaurants and cafes come up with new food items on their menu which you can try. If you are a foodie, shopping offline brings you more fun than you can imagine. During the Diwali season, both Sarah and I go for a full-day treat as we do offline Diwali shopping in Mumbai.

Convenience and Safety

Believe it or not, but many consumers in India and around the world feel that they want to protect their privacy. When you shop online companies constantly spam you with emails and text messages until it boils your blood. Consumers want privacy and safety and that is one of the offline shopping benefits.

Kitchenware at the Store

Also, you may have that one-off experiences when the product you bought isn’t what you expected. While most e-commerce stores offer easy returns option it can leave a bad taste in the mouth if the retailer isn’t cooperative.

So, what kind of shopper are you? Do you shop online or offline? Or do you research online and shop offline?

Christmas Decorations in Mumbai

Christmas is just around the corner and as time slips out of hand panic trickles into our mind. Many people in Mumbai live a hectic life that is hard to describe in words and I certainly know that after all I have been a Mumbaikar all my life commuting up and down the local trains five days a week and getting into that super dense crush load local trains that push you to the limits of madness and havoc. If you are still not ready with your Christmas decorations, Christmas tree and other important things that you need to prepare for the festival you need not panic because you can still make up and get all the information right here simplified and to the point. I have already covered the decorations part in my earlier blog that also talks about Christmas tree and other decorative items that you need during the festival. So, if you are looking for Christmas tree shops in Mumbai or Christmas decorations in Mumbai you can click here.

CAKES

Christmas Cakes in Mumbai

I love cakes and that is what makes my Christmas even better because I manage to get my hands on cakes and pastries during the festival season. I have chomped up many cakes in my life from different bakeries in the city and across India so I know which ones taste better. In Mumbai, Monginis remains the most popular cake shop that you will find everywhere, but the level of quality has degraded in the last five years. I don’t have grudges against the brand and nor I am being paid by someone else to do this. I have been eating Monginis cakes for more than 17 years so I know how the cakes were made then and now. Cakes play an important role during Christmas celebrations because you can also gift cakes to your relatives, friends and close family members. Here I have listed some of the best cake shops where you can find great Christmas cake deals when you are running out of time.

Hailed as the Garden City of India, Bangalore recently named Bengaluru is not just a shopper’s paradise but also the state capital of Karnataka. In terms of size and population, Bangalore is not too far behind and takes the fifth position. However, in terms of overall urban landscapes Bangalore certainly races a little ahead mainly because of the beautiful parks, heritage buildings and architecture and shopping centers and malls that are here for the people. While I usually find people talking about the beautiful gardens and the pub culture and the technology and IT parks that have impacted the life of the common people in the city, I would like to talk about shoppers can make the best use of their shopping skills and enjoy the best time shopping for Diwali in Bangalore because that is what I do best.

Airport Road Market

I guess anybody who has ever been to Bangalore must have shopped here for sure as it is the most happening place in the city. Also known as Old Airport Road earlier this road offers the right kind of shopping experience that most shoppers expect when they are in the Garden City of India. Let me tell you something about Bangalore right in the start that this city is unlike Delhi and Mumbai where you will find narrow alleys and lanes that have some of the best shops for shopping.

So, if you are from Mumbai or Delhi don’t expect to go through those small lanes sneaking into shops stuffed with goods. Airport Road is a major road so it’s pretty wide and you will shops on both sides of the street that you can look out for. You will find Total Mall here so if you don’t find anything substantial try this mall. You will also find some food joints here like McDonalds, Domino’s Pizza and even Indian and Chinese restaurants.

Brigade Road

If you are not satisfied with Airport Road Market shopping experience and want to explore more of the city head to Brigade Road that connects between MG Road and Residency Road. Now let me remind you again this is not a Chandni Chowk or a Crawford Market, but still it offers you that kind of pulse that you need. It is a shopper’s paradise and has remained the biggest crowd pulling destination in the city for many years now. If you are looking for local and international brands you will find it here for sure.

The streets are packed with banners, hoardings and shoppers looking around for the best deals. Since there are not many street vendors out here shoppers do not really have a choice to bargain so that’s kind of disappointing, but you still have wide range of choices so you pick the best deals.

M.G. Road

Well, I just had a thought in my mind that I would like to share with my readers and let me tell you this has nothing to do with Bangalore or any other Indian city.  However, imagine if Mahatma Gandhi was alive today walking around the streets of Indian cities he would have found many M.G. Road’s that now have become a shopping paradise for those who prefer Western brands. I mean he propagated the idea of swadeshi clothing (khadi clothing) and rejecting Western clothes across India during the freedom struggle, but most M.G. Road’s today offer Western brands to the Indian population, quite ironic, huh? Okay, let me get back to my Diwali shopping topic as I am not here to preach or debate on Indian politics.

If you are in Bangalore then M.G. Road is also one of the places where you can enjoy Diwali shopping. You can find top deals at Shrungar Shopping Complex, Spencer’s Super Market, and Big Kids Kemp. Women can find tons of shops here for latest sarees that they can wear for the festival. M.G. Road also has some really good family restaurants and cafes so you can hang around once you are done shopping.

Residency Road

Residency Road in Bangalore

Diwali celebrations is not just about buying the best clothes but also about decorating our homes and many locals in Bangalore head to Residency Road where they find some great home decor items, furniture and handicrafts that they can add to their home interiors. If you are here you can also shop at Bangalore Central mall that offer wide range of choices to the consumers. You can also find some artifacts and handicrafts from emporium shops of other states so shoppers have multiple choices here while shopping.

Bangalore certainly offers lot more choices to the consumers like Commercial Street, BVK Iyengar Road and Cunningham Road. So, I think the best thing that shoppers need here is patience and time to explore certain areas in order to find the right deals. Some of the locations are close to each other while some are not so take your sweet time before you go hunting for the right deals on the streets of Bangalore.
